UMMS Foundation, Inc. raises charitable funds to safeguard the future of health care excellence for the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). Through the development of charitable support, UMMS Foundation helps UMMS remain a leading integrated health care delivery system.
Established in March 2000, the Foundation is building an endowment fund to safeguard the future of health care excellence at the Medical System and is its central structure for fundraising, stewardship and endowment management.
The UMMS Foundation is dedicated to a "Contributor First Philosophy" – the first priority is to ensure that contributors' expectations are met. This means that every gift will be recognized and stewarded in the manner that our contributors expect.
UMMS was created through legislation in 1984, making it independent from State ownership and University governance. UMMS is a not-for-profit health care provider serving the people of Maryland, the region and the world.The Medical System Foundation subscribes to a nationally accepted fund-raising code of ethics and the Contributor Bill of Rights.
