Violence Prevention Program (VPP) Benefit Event

SAVE THE DATE: Friday, October 23, 2015

The Violence Prevention Program would like to sincerely thank all who supported the inaugural Maryland Signatures Benefit Event!  Much like the team effort upholding the Violence Prevention Program (VPP), the success of this event was the direct result of a tremendous collective involvement.

Generous supporters remain the key to furthering the VPP mission and proved extremely integral to the success of our inaugural event. With your trust and support, together, we have elevated the level of awareness for the program and raised over $34,000 to further our mission. We look forward to holding our annual event in the Spring of 2015 and hope to see you there!

Funds raised will directly impact current VPP participants by assisting with costs associated with the resources needed for positive life style changes. Resources offered include counseling, career training, education and personal needs. One of the VPP participants, R.S., said, “I was very happy to watch the city of Baltimore come together under one roof to raise awareness and support the prevention of violence in my community of Baltimore City. This event really gave me hope in knowing that we will make a difference.”

As mentioned during remarks, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) starting in 1998, after seeing victims of violence being treated, discharged from the hospital, and readmitted months later due to another, often more serious, violent injury. The Violence Prevention Program, at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center takes steps to decrease violence in  Baltimore by promoting violence prevention with high risk youth in the community. The program also serves those that have been involved with violent activity by providing essential resources in order to move forward with healthier lifestyles.
