Planned Giving

The 1823 Society

The 1823 Society honors the foresight and generosity of a very special group of UMMS friends who choose to provide for the future of UMMS through their wills, through charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities or through other charitable gift planning options.

Founded in 1823, UMMS has built a tradition of attention to patient care, academic excellence and scientific achievement. Today, UMMS is poised to take its place at the forefront of academic medical centers worldwide. It is through the generosity of those who choose to leave a legacy that UMMS will have the resources to maintain and enhance its many centers of excellence.

By informing UMMS of your intentions, the Medical System can ensure that your gift will be used as you intended, as well as allow the UMMS family to have an opportunity to acknowledge and thank you for the important contribution that you are making to the health of our community.

In appreciation of your generous pledge of support, as a member of 1823 Society, you are invited to an annual reception in your honor. The occasion will include the induction of new members and a special briefing about UMMS plans to perpetuate its mission. Members will be listed in UMMS annual report on philanthropy. For those whose cash gifts have been recognized on the UMMS Wall of Honor, a special designation will be included on their plaques. In addition, members receive an exclusive 1823 Society pin signifying membership. Members also receive Medical System publications, as well as invitations to other Medical System events and programs.
