THE 2020 R ADAMS COWLEY SHOCK TRAUMA CENTER GALA HAS BEEN CANCELED.
Following the guidance of our local experts, as well as guidelines from state and national regulatory organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we have made the decision to cancel the annual Shock Trauma Gala this year. As our nation and state face an unprecedented global pandemic, as defined by the World Health Organization on Wednesday, with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, we have faced many difficult decisions as we prepare to respond to the health care needs of the communities we serve across the state.
While this decision was not made lightly, we believe it is in the best interest of the safety and welfare of our community. Because of the highly contagious nature of this virus, canceling large gatherings of people would help mitigate the spread of the disease. As is true of many major events that are being cancelled around the country this spring, it is disappointing to convey this news, however, we know that it is for the health and safety of everyone involved.
The opportunity to celebrate the unique resource that is Shock Trauma is one of the highlights of our year. The planning teams have worked tirelessly to create an evening of celebration recognizing the skill and expertise of the Shock Trauma clinicians and staff as well as our first responder partners.
Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this rapidly-evolving situation and for your continued support of the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
