More Than 260 University of Maryland Medical System Physicians Recognized As “Top Doctors” In Baltimore Magazine 2024 Survey

October 14, 2024

More than 260 physicians in 84 specialties and sub-specialties who provide care across University of Maryland Medical System hospitals and other care locations are recognized as "Top Doctors" in the November 2024 issue of Baltimore magazine. Of the doctors recognized, 118 practice at the System's flagship academic hospital, the University of Maryland Medical Center, and are also on the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. More than 220 of these providers, representing 65 specialties, work with adult patients, and more than 40 doctors representing nearly 20 specialties care for pediatric patients.

"Each fall, we look forward to the “Top Doctors” list which always includes many of our physicians across the System,” said Mohan Suntha, MD, MBA, President and Chief Executive Officer of UMMS. "Recognition by peers is one of the strongest validations of a clinician’s work, and we are particularly proud of our 260-plus doctors who are being recognized for providing compassionate, high-quality health care."

The "Top Doctors" results are based on Baltimore magazine's annual survey of thousands of physicians in the Baltimore region who were asked to name the best doctors; the list covers 130 specialties and subspecialties and more than 638 physicians who received the highest number of recommendations by their peers are included.

“We are honored to once again have so many of our specialists recognized among the most skilled in their respective fields,” said Bert W. O'Malley, MD, President and CEO of the University of Maryland Medical Center. “Their dedication to advancing medicine through discovery-based, patient-centered care is the reason they’ve earned this coveted acknowledgement from their peers and continue to win the trust of the patients, families, and communities we serve every day."

UMMS hospitals represented in "Top Docs" include the University of Maryland Medical Center Downtown Campus; University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus, both located in Baltimore City; University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie (Anne Arundel County); University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson (Baltimore County); University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center (Bel Air) and UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Aberdeen, both in Harford County, and University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute, located in Baltimore City.
