October 18, 2022

More than 140 University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) physicians are recognized as "Top Doctors" in the November 2022 special issue of Baltimore magazine. The UMMC honorees, who are also on the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, are among the more than 250 physicians across the University of Maryland Medical System hospitals to be included on the annual list which spans 90 specialties and sub-specialties.

"We've are incredibly fortunate to have some of the region's most skilled physicians providing exceptional care for UMMC patients," said Bert W. O'Malley, MD, President and CEO of UMMC. "In addition to their commitment to patient-centered care, each of these physicians share a pursuit of discovery and innovation through our close affiliation with the University of Maryland School of Medicine. We are pleased that they have earned this highly-regarded acknowledgment of their dedication to saving and improving lives."

UMMC is the flagship academic hospital for the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and an anchor institution in Baltimore City.

"We are honored once again to have so many of our physicians included on this prestigious list," said Mohan Suntha, MD, MBA, President and CEO of UMMS. "Being recognized by peer physicians is one of the strongest validations of their work as clinicians providing compassionate, high-quality health care for tens of thousands of patients every year."

The "Top Doctors" results are based on Baltimore magazine's annual survey of thousands of physicians in the Baltimore region who were asked to name the best doctors; the list covers 116 specialties and subspecialties and more than 600 doctors who received the highest number of recommendations by their peers are included.

UMMS hospitals represented in "Top Doctors" include the University of Maryland Medical Center Downtown Campus; University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus, both located in Baltimore City; University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie (Anne Arundel County); University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson (Baltimore County); University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center (Bel Air) and University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital (Havre de Grace), both in Harford County, and University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute, located in Baltimore City.
