The University of Maryland Medical Center is proud to participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving held every year on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
On this year’s #GivingTuesdayUMMC on November 27, help us reach our goal of $25,000 for Project Engage, a community outreach program at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC).
On any given night, more than 2,500 women, men and children are homeless in Baltimore City. As a member of the community, UMMC wants to support and promote the health and wellbeing of these individuals. To address this, UMMC initiated Project Engage in collaboration with the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore.
Project Engage offers assistance to this vulnerable population by engaging with these individuals to provide information on health and social services that are available to them. For example, our Project Engage team can provide specific referrals for medical and behavioral health services, addiction treatment programs available nearby, as well as housing/shelters, food and employment services that assist individuals with obtaining paying jobs.
In addition, the program stocks high protein meal bars to distribute to individuals in lieu of financial resources.
In the first six months, Project Engage connected with more than 2,000 people around the UMMC campus and distributed more than 6,000 protein bars.
Connecting with people in need is critical to improving the social fabric of Baltimore, decreasing the number of visits to the emergency room, and providing essential resources to the community. UMMC is committed to this population and being a resource for them to seek help.
Be a part of something greater on this #GivingTuesdayUMMC and help us reach our goal of $25,000 for Project Engage. Your gift will make an impact.
