World-class Center leads research and training in trauma medicine

Simulation dummyEstablished in 2014, the Center for Critical Care and Trauma Education extends Shock Trauma’s mission by providing world-class educational opportunities for trainees from multiple disciplines and serving as a model for multi-disciplinary and multi-specialty education in critical care and trauma.

Under the leadership of Samuel Tisherman, M.D., the Center leverages the expertise of trauma and critical care specialists, as well as experts in education and research throughout the UMMC and the University of Maryland Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. The Center provides clinical experiences, online educational materials, didactic and interactive learning, simulation, and education research.

Education briefingAt the heart of the Center is the technologically advanced Simulation Center housed in the Shock Trauma Critical Care Tower. This 10,000 square foot space is dedicated to medical simulation and includes trauma rooms fully outfitted to mimic real operating rooms, as well as state-of-the-art classrooms.
