A Legacy of Giving and Service

UMMC Midtown Campus Auxiliary Celebrates Over a Century of Support

Auxiliary quiltFor more than 100 years, the UMMC Midtown Campus Auxiliary has worked tirelessly to provide philanthropic support and volunteer service to the UMMC Midtown Campus. While advancements in medicine have dramatically changed healthcare in the last century, the Auxiliary’s unwavering dedication to the mission of UMMC Midtown Campus has remained constant.

“The hard work of the Auxiliary benefits all of our patients,” says Pam Ramp, current Auxiliary President since 2007. Like many fellow Auxiliary members, Ramp is a former employee who speaks fondly of her 29-year career with the hospital. “Working here was like being with family with the sense of community and fun,” she says enthusiastically. “We all have deep roots in this community and we care.”

The Auxiliary’s passion for giving back to UMMC Midtown Campus has taken many forms (sidebar). Proceeds from activities such as vendor sales and the ever popular nut and candy sale are used to fund projects great and small. “It might be a small expenditure, but to the patient who needs it, it’s a million dollars,” says Pam.

Since its founding, the Auxiliary has donated nearly $1 million in funds and countless volunteer hours. “Support from the Auxiliary is key to the patient experience,” states Brian Bailey, Senior Vice President and Executive Director, UMMC Midtown Campus. “They are a mission-oriented group and through their efforts we’ve been able to complete projects that may have otherwise been delayed. The Auxiliary is a tremendous partner and we are truly grateful for their generosity and hard work on behalf of our patients, staff and visitors.”
