Heroic Gifts to the Shock Trauma Critical Care Tower

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company

G.W.C. Whiting and LeBaron Turner founded The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company in 1909 on the belief that integrity, engineering talent, and a dedication to our customers would make us the very best in the construction industry. For more than a century, our success and reputation in the marketplace have been testaments to their wisdom.

Whiting-Turner's demonstrated stability, industry standing, and financial strength serves as a model for the construction industry. Our strategy to promote from within has resulted in very enviable employee retention.

National clients have often remarked how amazed they are with our firm's philosophical and operational consistency across the country. The reason is simple: There has never been a need to "sell" the company's core values to the managers of our regional offices. There have been no outside company acquisitions. Our corporate and regional officers have been with Whiting-Turner since the earliest stage of their construction careers.

The mission of Whiting-Turner is to build on our reputation for integrity, excellence, experience and leadership as the nation’s finest construction organization by:

Values such as integrity, loyalty, and customer delight have always been taken very seriously by our firm. Whiting-Turner's mission statement is the embodiment of these values.

Whiting-Turner's growth and success stems from the belief in and strict adherence to the core values established nearly a century ago by our founders, G.W.C. Whiting and LeBaron Turner, and exemplified by our late president and CEO, Willard Hackerman.

Mr. Hackerman was a young graduate engineer, when Mr. Whiting instilled in him and everyone around him the conviction that hard work and honest dealing would result in what we value most: the trust, loyalty and respect of our clients.

Whiting-Turner employees routinely give back to the communities in which they work and we give because it’s the right thing to do.

As you can see, Whiting-Turner has progressed from our beginnings as builders of tunnels, utilities and bridges to the construction of every conceivable type of facility, regardless of size, scope and location. We can only imagine the pride and joy Mr. Whiting and Mr. Turner would have in seeing the firm today.

On behalf of Whiting-Turner, we thank you for making us successful, and for future opportunities to demonstrate our devotion to our founders’ principles.

We are proud to stand beside each family that is served by Shock Trauma and we take great pride in knowing our team has built the Tower in which you stand.
