Where does the race take place?

The race is at Maple Lawn in Howard County, MD.

What time does the race start?

The Maryland Half Marathon will begin at 8:00 AM and the 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:30 AM.

Is there parking available?

Yes! There is plenty of FREE parking at the Maple Lawn Community.

  • Access to your Personal Dashboard
    You will have the option to fundraise for the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) through your personal dashboard until June 25 at 11:59 PM. All donations made to your fundraising page benefit the UMGCCC. Here are step-by-step instructions to set up your Participant Center.
  • Complimentary Race Photos
    The Maryland Half Marathon & 5K offers complimentary race photos for all participants thanks to our Photo Sponsors, First American Title and Residential Title & Escrow Company. Racine Multisports, our official race partner, will be taking your photo thoughout the course. All photos will be available post-race. We are using photo recognition by your bib to automatically sort your race photos, so please wear your bib properly on your front. The earlier you have it on and the later you keep it on will ensure more photos being placed in your results.

Can I join a team?

Yes, you can join a team and combine your fundraising effort with other participants. Your team captain will have access to customize a team fundraising page and all team member pages will be connected to it. This is a great way to rally together and show your support for the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Are there volunteer opportunities?

Yes, we need volunteers! There are many ways to volunteer either on race day or for packet pick-up before race day.

What are the dates, times and locations of packet pick-up?

More information to come!

Can I pick up my packet the morning of the race?

Yes, you can pick up your packet on race day. Please plan accordingly and give yourself plenty of time as it is usually busy.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

You may have someone else pick up your packet (bib number and participant shirt) during any of the packet pick-ups. The person getting your packet will need a signed note from you or a copy of an email from you and his/her photo ID. Please don't send the note authorizing someone to pick up your packet directly to us. The person picking up your packet should bring the note (or a printout of an email) with him/her to a packet pick-up location!

Can I switch my registration - 5K to the half marathon or half marathon to the 5K?

Yes, please attend a packet pick-up session before race day and request the change. We cannot make a change on race day.

When does registration close?

Registration closes at 9:00 PM on Friday, May 31.

Are all participants eligible to fundraise for the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center?

YES!! All fundraisers, Maryland Half Marathon and 5K participants are encouraged to fundraise. Fundraising must be complete by June 30 at 11:59 PM.

Please note that if you have already started to fundraise as an individual participant, you cannot join a team. In order to join a team, you must do so before fundraising.

If someone wants to write a check in support of my fundraising campaign, to whom should their check(s) be made payable?

Checks should be made payable to UMMS Foundation with the participant's/fundraiser's name noted on the memo line.

Where should I send offline donations that I have collected in support of my fundraising campaign?

Will offline donations made in support of my fundraising campaign (checks or money orders mailed to the UMMS Foundation) show on my fundraising page?

Yes, but only if we know whose fundraising campaign to credit. To ensure you receive credit for these donations be sure to include a note with your name so we can credit the donation to your fundraising total. In order for the people that have donated to get a tax receipt, we will also need their name, mailing address, and donation amount.

Can my friends and family attend the post-race festival?

Yes, friends and family are encouraged to come and visit the vendor booths as well as enjoy the music.

Do I have to fundraise?

Fundraising is not required, but strongly encouraged! The University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center needs our support now more than ever as the number of patients coming to UMGCCC seeking cancer care increases each year.

Will my friends and family who sponsor me get a tax-deduction?

Yes, all contributions are 100% tax deductible.  Each contributor receives a tax receipt for their records.

Will there be food after the race?

Participants will be treated to a variety of food and beverages after the race.  There will be more food available for purchase after the race (and plenty of free samples too!).

Will there be chip timing?

Yes, the Maryland Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk will be professionally timed by Racine MultiSports, official race partner.

How many water stops will there be?

There will be 8 water stops, 3 with Gatorade for the Maryland Half Marathon and 1 water stop for the 5K.

How old do you have to be to run the Maryland Half Marathon?

You must be 14 years of age to run the Maryland Half Marathon.

There is no age limit for the 5K. If you are 13 and under, you will be required to have parental permission.

Can I walk?

Yes! We encourage participants of all ages and ability levels to join us. Before beginning any new exercise program—including a new walking or running training regimen—or if you are not feeling well, it is important to consult with your physician.

Are strollers allowed?

Strollers are allowed for the 5K event only. Strollers are not allowed for the half marathon.

Can I run with my dog?

We love dogs, but dogs are not permitted on any course.

How long is the course open?

The Maryland Half Marathon course will be open for 4 hours.

The 5K Run/Walk course will be open for 1 hour.
