Fundraising

What is our cause?
The CHP Running Team supports the Children's Heart Program (CHP) because heart defects are the most common and potentially life-threatening birth defects. Children can survive and thrive with even the most complex defects when they get excellent care.

The Children's Heart Program at the University of Maryland Children's Hospital provides such excellence in a family-centered setting. The Running Team's mission is to support every family whose child is in the care of the CHP.

Our funds are dedicated to helping families meet the extraordinary demands of caring for a child with any kind of heart disease. In past years, donations have launched a family support group, renovated spaces for families in the intensive care unit, purchased a portable echocardiograph machine so that diagnostic testing can be done close to home, and supplied a wish list for our pediatric rehab team that helps children improve nutrition and mobility after surgery so that they can return home.

This year, we pledge to replenish the CHP Family Fund which provides financial assistance to families to help ease the strain of long hospital stays, time away from work, care for siblings and complex equipment and support needs at home. By registering with our team, you join our mission by raising awareness, funds, and hope. You can be confident when you ask friends and family to sponsor you that donations will help children with heart diseases.

What We Ask of You
When you set a fundraising goal of at least $100 and raise this money or donate it yourself, you make sure to defray the cost of our shirts and our team tent, and begin to contribute to the CHP Family Fund. Higher fundraising goals will ensure a robust CHP Family Fund.

The CHP Running Team also provides financial assistance to all families in our care who want to participate in the run. All levels of participation are welcome.
