Welcome to my Maryland Half Marathon & 5K Page!
I wasn't going to do this but after seeing all the posts this weekend about the Maryland Half & 5k I woke up this morning knowing I had to join in the fun. I did my first Maryland Half in 2012, just six months after Dave died because he made me sign up for it while he was home on hospice. Since then the only one I've missed was last year's race when I was injured. So today was the 8th time I ran - not quite in shape for a half and the 5k seemed not long enough so I ran 5 miles this morning, remembering Dave, my cousin Kelly and so many friends who have lost their life due to cancer. It sucks. It still hurts. But it's important to remember and it's important to give back and support those that provided such good care to Dave.
I am participating in the 2020 Maryland Half Marathon & 5K to raise money for the fight against cancer. 100% of every dollar I raise goes directly to the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC).
Since 2009, participants like me have raised more than $4 million to support UMGCCC’s cutting-edge care and groundbreaking research. And this year, we’re going for a new fundraising best.
As a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, UMGCCC ranks among the top cancer centers in the country. They combine compassionate care with the most advanced treatment options available. I hope you’ll consider making a donation to fund their amazing work. Your support helps provide lifesaving treatment to UMGCCC patients and funds research that benefits cancer patients everywhere.
Make a contribution today. Together, we can move the fight against cancer forward!
