This year is the 12th running of the Maryland Half Marathon, benefiting the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center and the first time it will be held virtually. I've run 11 of them, most as a Pace Group Leader.
Since everyone will be running solo, there's no need for pace groups this year. Right now I plan to run it on race day in Richmond, where I'll be working that day at VCU Medical Center caring for patients on the infectious diseases consult service.
Please remember that all proceeds go straight to this marvelous National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center where dedicated staff offer compassionate, holistic, cutting-edge care to people facing one of life’s most terrifying challenges. The great news is that the era of cancer as a death diagnosis is passing. New treatment approaches, the results of tireless efforts by dedicated scientists, have provided hope and cures for countless patients. The time when most patients will triumph over their cancers is approaching and the Greenebaum Cancer Center is hastening that day. Please consider being part of this effort with a generous donation.
