Some of you may know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks ago. A routine mammogram, followed by a biopsy (thank you UMMC Radiology Breast Center) Within hours of being diagnosed, she was assigned a "team". Mary, her patient navigator, is an angel. She is able to do anything. She has a calming effect on mom (and me). The week after being dignosed, mom met with the surgeon, the oncologist and the radiation oncologist. She has a dream team put togehter for her. I coudnt be happier with her care team. She is strong and win this battle. This is also a reminder that you must continue with your yearly mammograms no matter your age.
So, I hope you are asking at this point "What can I do?" Well, there are several things you can do to honor Mom. 1. Donate to the team; 2. Donate to any team member; 3. Join our team and fundraise.
100% of the proceeds from this event go toward cancer research. Without research, mom would not have been able to be try the aromatase inhibitors medication that hopefully will reduce the size of the tumor before her surgery on Friday.
Mom is shedued for surgery on Friday, March 19th and will then follow with Radiation Oncologist.
As a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, UMGCCC ranks among the top cancer centers in the country. They combine compassionate care with the most advanced treatment options available. We hope you’ll consider making a donation to fund their amazing work. Your support helps provide lifesaving treatment to UMGCCC patients and funds research that benefits cancer patients everywhere.
Please help me honor my mom and donate or join our team.
Thank you,
Tara
