Maryland Half Marathon & 5K
10 years. 130,000 miles. Endless impact.
Welcome to my Maryland Half Marathon & 5K Page!
In September 2016 I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Since that time, UMGCCC has been by my side. Through initial treatments, and my recurrence, the oncology team has ensured that I was provided the best treatment options, including a stem cell transplant in March 2018. That spring, I did virtual fundraising for this event. In 2019, I ran the 5K to honor my family and friends who have fought this battle with me, my tribe of survivors, my medical team, and all of those who have succumbed to this disease. This year, everything is back to virtual. 2020...well, we all know what happened there. So, I will be running/walking a half-marathon this year here, in Annapolis, on May 8, to support the BMT Team and UMGCCC.
While everyone at UMGCCC is committed to excellence, and works to integrate technical expertise and compassion to care for each patient, I joined the BMT team because they saved my life. This team of highly trained professionals provided much needed physical, mental, and emotional support, including my periodic meltdowns, medical setbacks, and complications. I could not have asked for a more caring support system, which kept me optimistic, grounded, and focused on my recovery. This team could not provide this individualized plan of care to all patients without the necessary funds to keep the clinician/patient ratio manageable.
Make a contribution today. I hope that by raising needed funds, we can one day beat cancer! There are so many people in need who may not be able to get the treatment they require without your support. 100% of every dollar I raise goes directly to the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC). Any contribution will help! With gratitude and thanks...terry
