YOU DID IT - - HELLO
Welcome to my Maryland Half Marathon & 5K Page! We need YOU! As many of you know I was diagnosed with Head/Neck cancer back in 2020. It all began with what I thought was a tooth ache or wisdom tooth issue. I will not forget the call from the Oral surgeon to come in ASAP. The results were cancer cells seen from the biopsy. So the journey began; 13 hour surgery, neck/jaw and partial jaw bone removed, fibula bone from leg replaced jaw bone, breathing tube was a nightmare for me, and feeding tube as i couldn't eat for months, chemo and proton radiation in a 2 year period. I never thought I would be writing this today as it was an awful experience and today positively will get through some recovery hurdles but feeling very blessed for sure.
I do credit the stellar surgeon Dr. Rodney Taylor and his full team of doctors, nurses and staff for my smooth recovery and the continued follow up for many years. It was not easy but moving through the processes they have in place certainly helped. The Greenbaum Cancer center and my one of my favorite nurses Amanda and so many were exceptional. On my worse days they were there for me. Dr. Mehra was perfect in every way with keeping me straight during the Chemo trips. Dr. Vakharia who put me back together, I will be so grateful too forever and is continued support. And the MD Proton Radiation Center Dr. Matthew Witek and his staff were on top of it every visit, 36 days straight of radiation.
So as I share some of my story - I am grateful to help raise funds and participating in the VIRTUAL 2022 Maryland Half Marathon & 5K. Let's do this everyone as we need to keep this out there so that we can fight against all cancer. 100% of every dollar I raise goes directly to the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) for their research efforts.
As a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, UMGCCC ranks among the top cancer centers in the country. They combine compassionate care with the most advanced treatment options available. I hope you’ll consider making a donation to fund their amazing work. Your support helps provide lifesaving treatment to UMGCCC patients and funds research that benefits cancer patients everywhere.
PLEASE HELP SUPPORT AND MAKE A CONTRIBUTION TODAY, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DONATE YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS TO EVERYONE. LET'S HELP OUR GENERATIONS WITH WHAT THEY DESERVE IN THE FUTURE. TOGETHER WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THANKS SO MUCH.
