Join us for the third virtual Maryland Half Marathon & 5K!
We don’t have to gather in-person to race for a reason. A virtual race allows us to unite runners and walkers everywhere in the fight against cancer, while maintaining the social distancing and other measures necessary to battle against COVID-19. This event gives every runner and walker a fun and flexible race experience and the tools and tips to be fundraising experts.
All proceeds from this event support the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) and the work of world-class physicians and scientists to improve outcomes for cancer patients through innovation, discovery and research.
The virtual Maryland Half Marathon & 5K event makes it easy to race at your own pace. Simply choose your distance and complete it between June 11 and June 13.
Run or walk your race wherever you want—jump on the treadmill, head to the beach or find that favorite trail. It’s up to you! Run or walk alone or with others—all we ask is that you follow safe social distancing guidelines.
Once you register, we will send you everything you need to run your race in style. You’ll receive a printable electronic race bib, an official race t-shirt and a medal. Wear them with pride.
During your race, let us be your cheer squad. Post photos of your run or walk with the hashtags #MDHALF or #MD5K and #fightcancer. Be sure your post is public and we may share it on our Facebook page.
During race week you’ll receive a link to upload your results. Track your time (hours/minutes/seconds), your distance and confirm your personal information by 11:59 PM on June 13. We’ll post overall and age group results at 5 PM, Friday, June 17.
Tracking is on the honor system: there’s no need to submit screenshots of your course or your time.
We want this race to go the distance in providing support for UMGCCC. Will you help us take the virtual Maryland Half Marathon & 5K nationwide?
The goal is to create the largest team possible and in as many states as you can. Recruit friends and family from throughout the country to register as a participant on your team. We score entries from the half marathon and 5K together, and each week will post the weekly leaders on our website.
When you commit to fundraising as an individual or part of a team, you’re ensuring UMGCCC can continue to offer the highest level of cancer care through a rich tradition of treatment, research and education.
Your support empowers us to keep moving forward, even in the most challenging of times.
Are you ready to race for a reason? Register today!
